Vacation time is over and one of the hardest things to do is get kids back to school without a lot of fuss. Most kids would usually like to spend more free time at home or with friends, but with a great vacation coming to an end, kids dread going to school instead of being excited about it. Actually, there are a few ways you can get your kids back to school without a fight.

do some pep talk

If your child keeps telling you that he doesn’t want to go back to school and would rather stay home and play on his computer, then you should spend some time talking to him.

Try to remind her of the great things she would surely miss at school if she didn’t come back. His friends would definitely seek him out and spend their time together having fun without him if he chose to stay home. Let him remember the wonderful times he had playing his favorite games at school, along with the fabulous rewards he gets after every high score on a quiz or after winning a game. Once his son remembers all these wonderful feelings he felt at school, he will surely be tempted to go back to school.

promise a reward

This may be some kind of bribe, but it will definitely work. Now, think of something your son has been longing for that you couldn’t give him during his vacation. It could be a device like a PSP, a Wii, a puppy, a pet iguana, or maybe a new cell phone that he’s been wanting for months. Make a promise to your child that if he ever comes back to school and stands out in any way in the class, he will reward him with what he wants most.

A word of warning though: Children are very adept at remembering things that are promised to them, but it is very easy for them to forget things that they are supposed to do. So make sure you keep your promise, so that your child trusts you and, at the same time, makes him happy too.

So before you get frustrated by your child’s persistence of spending more months on vacation, try these methods first. He may be surprised that his children are eager to go back to school again.
