Crunches for ripped abs are a great way to shape your body. Your abs will become stronger and more defined, giving you that ‘six pack’ look.

Aim…

Are abs the best answer?

Crunches are definitely a good core/abs exercise. But there are many more that you can use!

It is very difficult to get ripped abs using only regular abs. They only hit 1 of your 4 abdominal muscles (your rectus abdomen), and it is not very easy to add weight to them.

Why use different abdominal exercises?

Using different ab exercises works wonders because you can work all of your abs. Y make your training more difficult. Without these two it will be very difficult to get your perfect abs.

First of all, you have 4 different abdominal muscles, not just the ‘washboard’. To build truly strong abs, you need to work on all of them. And it looks best when all of your abs are strong and defined, not just the ones in the front.

Also, you need to increase the difficulty of your training. You wouldn’t do a bicep curl with the same weight for months hoping to get a bigger bicep, would you?

By increasing the difficulty of your ab workout, you will get bigger. Y stronger abdominal muscles faster. Less time getting a six pack; Cha-ching!

Plus, by changing up your exercises, you’ll confuse your muscles and make them grow in new ways. After a while, you won’t be able to progress on the same exercise by doing it exactly the same way.

With a variety of exercises, you keep your abdominal muscles guessing, not knowing what to strengthen next (or de-energize and weaken them), so you gain muscles that can do a variety of movements with power.

Exercises like side crunches, planks, frog leg crunches, and knee raises are great for working out all of your abdominal muscles. A true workout, not just an exercise.

“But I just need a few other exercises and crunches for ripped abs, right?”

No. Sorry, but unless you’re genetically gifted beyond the norm (the kind of person I hate :-), then it’s going to take more than just a good ab workout plan.

You need to eat right, do some cardio or aerobics to burn the fat off your upper abs, and probably lift weights for bigger muscles.

More difficult? Yes.

More complicated? Not.

Not necessarily.

With a good exercise plan, dedication to your cardio and proper nutrition, and the strength to stick with your ab workout, it’s definitely doable.
