In addition to the above quote from a prominent Greek philosopher, another favorite of mine is “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” They both basically say the same thing: the universe will conspire to help you when it realizes that you’ve taken your destiny into your own hands.
Virtually every belief system on earth believes in this principle. Have you ever heard someone say “God helps those who help themselves”? The same thing.
A lot of it also comes down to a relationship between timing and preparation. There is a constant and constant stream of opportunities all around you. It always has been and always will be. To a large extent, success comes to those who are ready and prepared when it comes.
If you were to look into your own past, I’m sure you would remember times when incredible opportunities were literally just around the corner. However, he was unable to take advantage of them because he was not prepared with what was necessary to participate. Or you lacked money, time, information, or some other resource.
The more diligently you work on a focused area of achievement, you will set in motion a process of becoming more and more prepared to take advantage of the opportunities that will present themselves in the area of achievement you are working on. .
It can be so easy to see highly successful people as “lucky” when looking from the outside in. The truth is that very often what appears to be luck is often years and sometimes decades of fervent hard work and tireless dedication. In fact, it’s that hard work that brings “luck” into your life because you’re preparing yourself for future opportunities and also (hopefully) making yourself invaluable in the present.
So you want more “luck”? Or if you don’t believe in luck, do you seek more favors? Then get to work! To your pleasant surprise, one day you may look up to find that someone other than yourself has also joined in to help you achieve what you’re looking for.
