The New Orleans Saints have a very talented offense that can see them through January hands down. Quarterback Drew Brees is playing the best he’s ever played and will be a favorite for MVP once the season is over. The 2009 season should be a good one for the Saints franchise in general, with many expecting the Saints to play in late January.
Drew Brees has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, with all the offensive threats like WR Marques Colston, RB Mike Bell, BB Reggie Bush, and WR Jeremy Shockey. All the pieces are in place for the Saints to win a lot of games this season. Will they be a good regular season team? Will they use all their offensive weapons in January when the pressure is on as well? Offenses this good don’t happen that often, so the Saints need to make the most of the great players they have now.
The NFC South isn’t as good as it has been in years past. The Saints should win the division, if everyone, especially Drew Brees, stays healthy all season. The Saints should have a lot of easy games on their schedule to rack up wins and get a high seed for the playoffs, not the number one seed. Defense is what the Saints need to keep opponents on score relatively low – we know the Saints can score in groups and quickly.
New Orleans has had financial problems in recent years and a good Saints football team is what the New Orleans community needs. We know what happened with the 2007 New England Patriots: They were on the verge of the greatest NFL season of all time, but they were beaten in the Super Bowl by the New York Giants. It’s not clear that the Saints can be as good an offense as the Patriots were in 2007, what will matter is how they perform in the playoffs.
