A woman in California claims she swallowed a bullet while eating a hot dog and bit another. The lady was enjoying her Costco hot dog when she sensed something was wrong. At first she thought it was the metal braces, but she investigated further and discovered that the cause of her discomfort was not the braces at all.
Olivia Chanes, 31, was eating a Hebrew National hot dog at the Costco store in Irvine, California. She felt a piece of hard metal in her hot dog as she chewed. Having determined that it wasn’t her braces that made her feel like she was chewing on metal, she examined the contents of her mouth and found a 9mm bullet.
Chanes called the police, who dissected the remaining stock of Hebrew National hot dogs for other contaminants. No other contaminants were found in the sausages. It would appear that the only bullet found was in the hot dog that Olivia Chanes was eating.
However, Olivia Chane’s ordeal was not over. Chanes then had stomach pains and went to the hospital. An X-ray revealed that she had a bullet in her stomach. She showed her X-ray on local television, which proved her claim that she had swallowed a bullet to be true. The bullet must have been in the hot dog she was eating.
The woman said she was glad she ate the bullet instead of it ending up in her stomach when shot.
