Many dolls, figures, and figurines resemble charming movie characters.
There are many wonderful dolls and figurines that resemble the many colorful characters from the movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’. This movie was based on a story written by Lewis Carroll called ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’. The film adaptation (directed by Tim Burton and scripted by Linda Woolverton) was released in theaters in 2010.
Mia Wasikowska played Alice Kingsleigh, our heroine in the most recent film (2010) ‘Alice in Wonderland’. In this story, Alice runs away from her own engagement party as she feels pressured to marry a pompous man she doesn’t even like. She follows a strange-looking white rabbit down an underground hole that takes her back to her childhood fantasy world called Wonderland. This place is surrounded by very colorful talking creatures during her travels.
Alice meets Mallymkun the Dormouse, a talking white mouse who wears a fuchsia uniform jacket with a gold cape, a brown belt, and a white scarf around his neck. He is very unique in appearance. There is a doll that looks like Mallymkun Dormouse that can be purchased online.
Alice also meets Tweedledum and Tweedledee, two short, chubby guys. These two weird looking guys are wearing matching black and white striped t-shirts and black pants. Figures are also available, resembling each of these strange looking chubby characters.
Alice soon meets the fierce-looking creature known as the Jabberwocky. She comes to the conclusion that she must overcome her fears and win a battle against Jabberwocky. Near the end of the story, Alice is able to kill the Jabberwocky by overcoming her fears.
The wicked queen of hearts is played by Helena Bonham Carter in this movie. There is a Queen of Hearts doll available that resembles the actress. She has heart-shaped lips, a large forehead with bright red heart-shaped hair with a small gold crown on top. The ugly Queen (Helena Bonham Carter’s forehead was digitally enlarged to three times the normal size for the film) wears a white collar and long red dress. She has a red and gold bustle overlay and the red part of the skirt of her dress is decorated with gold hearts. Alice vows to help the ‘White Queen’ regain her rightful reign on the throne and end the Queen of Hearts’ tyranny over the creatures of the Underland.
In one scene from the movie, Alice crashes the tea party. She hides in the Mad Hatter’s teapot, dressed in a beautiful blue dress. There is an Alice doll available in a beautiful light blue dress, giving her a floral design with a beautiful lace trim that has a lighter blue ribbon with a satin flower around the bodice. She also wears a ribbon on her right arm. She wears black shoes. She is very elegant in appearance.
In another scene in the movie, Alice disguises herself to protect herself from the evil ‘Queen of Hearts’. There is a nice vinyl figure available, which looks just like Mia Wasikowska’s character Alice when she dresses up. This beautiful ash blonde figure wears a red dress layered with silky netting on the skirt of the outfit with a white cape with black stripes. Her upper right arm is wrapped with a red ribbon that is used as a bandage. Her waist is adorned with a red tasseled belt. Her shoes are black accented by red laces.
Another charming Alice doll that looks just like Mia Wasikowska, she wears an attractive soft nylon light blue coat with matching vest and blouse. She looks very pretty in blue.
Anne Hathaway played the beautiful Mirana, the White Queen from ‘Alice in Wonderland’ in the new version of the film. The charming figure of Mirana (who looks like Anne Hathaway) that is available on the internet is wearing a beautiful long white dress embellished with white beads on the bodice and light colored snowflakes on the skirt part of the dress. She wears a beautiful pearl necklace and a choker (made of golden stars) around her neck.
During her travels down the rabbit hole, Alice also meets Niven McTwisp, a high-strung and nervous white rabbit who watches his watch. There is a doll available to look like him. He has long white ears and is wearing a blue vest.
The Cheshire cat has an abnormally big smile. Cheshire has gray and blue striped fur and glowing green eyes. A figure of his likeness is also available on the internet. The Cheshire Cat saves the Mad Hatter from certain death.
Tarrant, is the unforgettable character known as The Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp in the film. There is a great Mad Hatter doll offered on the internet that looks like Depp’s Tarrant, who has clown-like flaming red hair, red lips with matching eyebrows. Her brown top hat is draped with a pink sash and accessorized with long jeweled pins. The Tarrant figure wears a soft cotton mock shirt with bow tie, a patterned waistcoat with gold buttons and a patterned scarf around the neck, twill trousers with embroidery and lace trim. He also wears mismatched striped tights along with brown leather boots with red laces. The Mad Hatter figure’s jacket has many colored ribbons held together by a large safety pin. There is bird embroidery on the back of his jacket, the cuffs are trimmed with lace, and he also wears a belt that holds several spools of thread and a gold chain consisting of black and gold diamond shapes. There is also a Mad Hatter Futterwacken figure that looks just like Depp. He still wears the colorful top hat and fiery red hair. Futterwacken wears a blue jacket, dungarees, a kilt, a tasseled belt, and a patterned tie. He also wears a kilt, striped tights, a bandolier of spools of thread, and a chain. He is dressed ready to perform the Futterwacken ball preparing for the rebellion against the Queen of Hearts (also known as the Red Queen).
The Queen of Hearts and the Knave is banished to the Far Lands by the White Queen, who becomes reigning queen again. The White Queen gives Alice a vial of Jabberwocky blood that will help her return to her home. Alice returns home and tells her family that she will live her life her way and on her own terms.
Each of the enchanting dolls created from the 2010 film ‘Alice in Wonderland’ will be highly prized by collectors and fans alike. The new version of the movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is highly entertaining for the whole family to watch!
In 1939 a film called ‘The Wizard of Oz’ was released in theaters. There are many lovely dolls, figures, and figurines that resemble these movie characters. The ‘Wizard of Oz’ was based on a story written by Frank L. Baum called ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ in 1900. In ‘The Wizard of Oz’, Judy Garland played a farm girl named Dorothy Gale from Kansas who lived with her. Aunt Em, Uncle Henry, three farmhands and their dog Toto. Near the beginning of the story, Toto, Dorothy’s dog, bites Miss Elmira Gulch. Miss Gulch says that she will get the town sheriff to take her little dog away to be destroyed. Dorothy runs off with her dog Toto from her to keep him safe. She meets Professor Marvel, a fortune teller on the road. He lies to Dorothy that her aunt Em is sick with grief because Dorothy ran away from her. Dorothy returns to the farm. She cannot join her family, which is locked in the storm cellar. She is knocked unconscious by a window frame during a tornado. She wakes up when the house is blown up by the huge tornado. When the farm lands, she finds herself in unfamiliar territory.
Glinda, the good witch of the north, arrives in a floating bubble and tells Dorothy that the wicked witch of the east died when the farm landed on her.
There is a beautiful figurine available on the internet that looks like beautiful Glinda with long golden hair while holding jeweled amulets from one hand to the other. The charms are of Dorothy’s dog Toto, ruby red slippers, a rainbow, the Tin Man’s heart, and the Emerald City. This Glinda figure is wearing a beautiful pink dress. On the skirt of this dress is an image of Scarecrow, Tin Man, Dorothy, and Lion.
The Wicked Witch of the West (the sister of the deceased wicked witch) appears from a puff of smoke and attempts to claim the ruby red slippers. Glinda tells the witch that her powers won’t work in Munchkinland. The Wicked Witch of the West tells Dorothy that he is going to get revenge on her and her dog, Toto.
Dorothy fears the Wicked Witch of the West who looks like Elmira Gulch. There is a figure of the Wicked Witch of the West holding a broom in the air that is sold on the Internet. She is eighteen inches tall, has a green face, a long crooked nose, and a pointy black hat with a matching dress. She has many green jewels around the waist of her dress. The witch also has the same green stones circling the bottom of her skirt and also on the brim of her matching hat.
Glinda the Good Witchs Dorothy to find the Wizard of Oz in the Emerald City and ask him for help. She tells him to follow the yellow brick road to get to Emerald City. As Dorothy searches for a land called the Emerald City, her imagination sends her on a journey to find the Wizard of Oz. She meets many interesting characters who resemble her family and friends of hers that she actually lives with.
First, Dorothy meets the Scarecrow who wants a brain. A Scarecrow figure is available with a blue jumpsuit. He also dons a blue straw hat and a long-sleeved plaid shirt with a large white collar.
Dorothy also meets the tin man who longs for a heart. There is also a nice Tin Man figure available on the internet. He is holding a silver axe. Tin Man wears a metallic silver suit with a matching silver belt and boots. He is a great collector’s item. Lion is another friend that Dorothy meets on the road. The Cowardly Lion craves courage. There is also a figure that resembles Leon. The gold-colored cowardly lion has a matching mane and tail. This figurine would make another beautiful addition to a Wizard of Oz collection.
I have seen a very beautiful Dorothy Gale doll, holding her black dog, Toto. She is wearing a blue ribbon. She is wearing a white blouse and a blue jersey dress with a knee-length skirt. She also wears blue socks to match the traditional ruby red slippers. She is very pretty and would make a great keepsake for any avid collector. She is a great collector’s doll.
Dorothy and her friends finally meet Oz. He tells them that they already had the attributes they’ve been looking for. Oz says that he is from Kansas too and offers to take Dorothy home in her hot air balloon. His dog Toto jumps out of the basket, Dorothy follows him and Oz continues without them.
Glinda tells Dorothy that she and Toto can come home. She tells Dorothy to kick back on her heels, close her eyes, and keep saying “there’s no place like home.” Dorothy wakes up in her bed on the farm surrounded by loved ones. She tells them her adventures.
‘The Wizard of Oz’ is not only a great classic film, but it has also been named the most watched film by the Library of Congress.
