2011, more than any year in recent memory, will be a 12-month flurry of chunky patterned jewelry and bold new pieces. So what’s in style for the season and what should you wrap up in velvet and keep in a safe place until next year? Read on to learn about the double rings worn by the social elite and why it’s okay for them to clash:

  • Patterned Jewelry – You know what we’re talking about, those intricately designed silver pieces, bracelets and rings that incorporate traditional motifs with leopard prints and floral designs. Don’t be afraid to mix and match to create your own unique style. Look at the catwalks to see if you can go too far and the answer is a resounding ‘no’. Go for your life.
  • Wear it Square – Square bangles are back in style this year and are a must-have accessory for all fashionistas. The great thing about a large square bangle is that it goes with just about anything and looks great in the winter months to complement an oversized sweater and great in the summer to dress up your favorite maxi dress. Don’t limit yourself to a particular metal or material, either. Mix and match gold, silver, wood, and resin to create your own unique style. This year the look is layered, the more you can stack the better!
  • Layered Necklaces: For a while, thin and dainty ruled the necklace roost, but chunky layered necklaces are back this year. Chunky layered rope pieces are in full bloom dwarfing any outfit.
  • Tribal-inspired jewelry and accessories: Fringed jewelry and accessories are very on-trend this season, as are geometric tribal prints. Cuffs complement the tribal style and large silver or gold earrings with many details will effortlessly enhance any outfit.
  • The Double Ring- These have been making an appearance for a while now and have just become more and more popular. The joining of two fingers next to each other is the new bling ring look. You can get some great designs with these too. If you’re not quite as daring or prefer to be able to separate your fingers from time to time, you might want to consider the trend of layering multiple fingers at once. Is this semi-grunge look difficult to achieve? No. Diamond rings look good any way you wear them.
  • Vintage: As usual, there’s still a place this year for much-loved vintage-inspired and vintage jewelry pieces. Keeping it bold and front and center is the only rule here.

There are plenty of great trends this season that are perfect for complementing your look all year long. Jewelry is such an important element to complete the look of every woman. I hope our list of this year’s hottest trends has inspired you with some great jewelry purchases to look for and keep you looking fabulous and on-trend this season and beyond.
