The latest development is a proposed amendment to a bill that would allow cities to increase their allowable taxes for gaming venues. This means cities could raise their lodging fees and allow gaming venues to add more into their tax brackets. Although many politicians are against the idea, it has not been given opposition by the Las Vegas Strip, its own voters, or the local voters in the surrounding areas.
