Everyday foods that reduce abdominal fat

1. Eggs

You can lose more weight by eating eggs for breakfast than bagels, toast, or English muffins. Eggs contain vitamin B12, which your body needs to metabolize fat. If your cholesterol is high, choose products that contain only egg whites and are cholesterol-free.

2. Oats

Eat natural oatmeal for breakfast with berries. It is high in fiber and stays in the stomach for hours and prevents a drop in blood sugar levels. It keeps you away from that mid-morning pastry race.

3. Berries

Berries contain a lot of fiber that keeps you full. Raspberries have six grams. Raspberry jelly or any jelly for that matter is not fruit. It’s junk with added sugar.

4. Walnuts

Walnuts slim your belly by keeping it full. 24 almonds a day are enough to satisfy hunger, they are rich in calories, so don’t overdo it. If hypertension is a problem, don’t use salt. Sodium increases blood pressure.

5. Olive oil

Monounsaturated fats like olive or canola oil control hunger, help keep cholesterol in check, and satisfy cravings. Hydrogenated vegetable oils are high in unhealthy trans fats. Stay away from those.

6. Lean meats and fish

More calories are burned when digesting protein or fat. Tuna and salmon contain omega-3s that actually help prevent the stress that promotes fat abs.

7. Beans and vegetables

Beans are low in calories and loaded with protein and fiber, which help you tone up and lose weight. Stay away from refried beans. They are high in saturated fat. Black or pinto beans are best.

8. Whole wheat

Whole grains are the right types of carbohydrates. They are full of fiber and keep you full. Look for “whole grain” or “100 percent whole wheat” on the bread labels. They still have fiber and nutrients.

9. Peanut butter

Peanut butter contains niacin and prevents bloating. It’s high in fat, so stick with two tablespoons a day of the all-natural variety with no added sugar.

10. Green vegetables

Vegetables like spinach and broccoli are loaded with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and very few calories. Romaine, arugula, or spinach have the most fiber.

11. Dairy, milk and yogurt

Dairy is full of calcium, and calcium helps break down fat and can even prevent it from forming. Just choose low-fat or fat-free dairy products.

12. Water

Dehydration causes the body to accumulate water, which can lead you to carry up to four extra pounds around the waist. Drink six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water or other liquids a day.

Chew and relax

Chew each bite at least 10 times before swallowing to avoid gas and indigestion. Also, when you eat fast, you will swallow more air and will be prone to developing a belly. Stress produces cortisol, a “fight or flight” hormone that sends excess fat directly to your abdomen in an attempt to protect your vital organs. Don’t stress about your fat belly. It will just make it worse. That is a no win situation. Just eat the right foods, chew them well, drink lots of water, and chill!
