Lighting is the most effective means of creating dramatic effects and moods throughout your home, both inside and out. The right lighting is just as important as the furniture for a complete look! Chandeliers especially can make a bright and bold statement in any large room in your home. In fact, if designed and positioned correctly, they could be the focal point of any room. A chandelier can make a small room look open and airy, and large rooms look cozy and inviting. Manufacturers make chandeliers in all sorts of styles and finishes, giving you options no matter how your home is decorated. You could even buy matching lamps and wall sconces! Many factors must be considered when choosing a lighting fixture. What style works best in my home? How big is the room? How much am I really willing to spend?

Medium Chandeliers (Up to 36” diameter)

Medium size chandeliers are often found in dining rooms or kitchens above the table or in the breakfast nook. However, many of today’s modern kitchens with vaulted ceilings, island countertops and airy atmospheres allow for creative and dramatic new places for the beauty of a chandelier as a grand but not over the top centerpiece.

Mini chandeliers (20” diameter and less)

Mini chandeliers can be used above kitchen islands, in a bathroom, bedroom, or dressing room. Adding a mini chandelier to the master bath will give it a touch of class and add soft general lighting. A mini chandelier is also a perfect way to create a quiet reading or sitting area or even add some excitement to a walk-in or dressing room.

Fireplace with candles (36” diameter and larger)

Since they are so large, foyer chandeliers need a large space to hold them. That being said, they can look great in rooms that have very high ceilings. When placing a chandelier in the foyer, consider the height of the ceiling and the size of the space. The optimal location would be at least 9 feet from the ground. If there is a window above the front door, you may want to center it on the window for maximum curb appeal. Foyer sconces are usually placed at the entrance of a home, but you can also think outside the box with these. Any large, airy space in the home can be the perfect place for the beauty of a large chandelier!
