Alternative fuels to power our cars tomorrow

The fossil fuel crisis is approaching day by day. That makes many people think of alternative fuels, which will be used in the future. There are some major alternative energy sources that are used today and are expected to be developed in the future. It involves solar, geothermal, wind and hydraulic energy. All of these energy sources are used to produce electricity and heat.

Oil is now the most expensive and one of the main fuels, used in many spheres of human activity, especially in vehicles. The vast majority of contemporary vehicles, even those with hybrid engines, use fuels produced from petroleum. Therefore, major automakers think of engines that can use alternative fuels, making internal combustion engines a part of history.

As you may find, there are a large number of cars that are powered by hybrid engines. Almost all car manufacturers can offer you various models with this type of engine. Hybrid means that the engine uses gas together with electricity. In some vehicles, the electric motor only helps move a vehicle, consuming less fuel. Other motors can be used as gas and electric separately. For example, a car with this type of engine can travel between 80 and 100 miles on electric traction. Hybrid cars become more and more popular due to their fuel economy, but at the same time, the cost of such cars is higher than that of the same models with a usual ICE. Certainly the price will be lower in the future and even today the number of such cars is increasing every coming year.

However, the hardest job is that of engineers, who develop electric and other cars with alternative fuels. Contemporary electric motor vehicles are not comfortable for the average person today. They cannot run many miles and must recharge for 12 or even 24 hours. Also, these cars require the same number of power plants that we have for gas stations. So such a situation does not allow us to travel long distances using an electric car. But as we can see, electric cars have a great future ahead of them.

Certainly the main driver for alternative fuel research and the development of new car concepts is not environmental protection, but the fossil fuel crisis. If people could use fossil fuels forever, they wouldn’t think of any alternative. But we cannot disagree that alternative energy will help save our planet from ecological disaster. Therefore, such a decision is reasonable from both an economic and an ecological point of view.
